Lipovyets
region is located at the border of Podolye plateau and Pridnyeprovye height,
its highest point (322 meters over the sea level) is within Vinnitsa oblast at
the village of Bogdanovka.
The region
is located in the forest-steppe physical and geographical zone of the Dnyestr -
Dnyepr forest-steppe physical and geographical province.
According
to the geo-botanic division into districts it is Eeastern - European
geo-botanic province. According to the zoogeographical - Ukrainian
forest-steppe district of the Dnyestr - Dnyepr forest-steppe physical and
geographical province with the appropriate animal and plant kingdoms. Its
surface is high gently undulate forest plain, being divided by the shallow
gallies with forest-steppe landscapes in their western part.
Lipovyets
region is located in the northern- eastern part of Vinnitsa oblast. It borders
with Kalinovka, Pogryebishchye, Oratov, Illintsi, Nyemirov, Vinnitsa regions.
The area of
the region is 0,979 thousand square kilometers.
The notable
features of its relief are 15 rivers. Left confluents of Yuzhniy Bug Dyesna and
Sob, where Vilshanka, Sobok and others flow into, are the biggest among them.
They form the unique aquatic system that includes 74 artificial storage pools
with the total area of 3000 hectares.
Chernozems
(typical, podzol, deep), making 90,2% of the area of the region, prevail. The
soils are broke more then soils of the other regions. The agricultural lands'
area is 2619, farms' area - 1838, forests' area - 2247 hectares. Granite, sand,
peat, kaolin, clay are available mineral resources. The kaolin field not far
from Turbov is one of the biggest in Europe.
Two settlements of the urban type, 57 villages being under 2 settlement and 25
village Councils are at the territory of the region.
Regional
center Lipovyets and Turbov are considered to be the settlements of the urban
type with 10 thousand population. First records of them date back to 1150 and
1545.

settlements are regarded as small ones with less then 100 population, 40 are
average, 7 are big with 1-3 thousand population. Staraya Priluka (the first
record of it dates back to 1146), Zozov(1552), Vakhnovka(1578),
Priborovka(1630), Novaya Priluka(1780), Rososha and Napadovka (18 cent.) are
among the last ones.

them are members of the regional council.
